Definition:

Acid reflux is a damage produced by acid regurgitated from stomach


Causes:

Lower esophagus has valve that generally prevent acidic fluid from stomach way to esophagus. This valvular mechanism is impaired then it do not acidic fluid from stomach affects the esophagus. This condition may be due to neural or muscular defect due to many causes.


Symptoms:

  • Impaired voice, difficulty in speaking.
  • Burning in abdomen sometimes chest pain.
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

Diagnosis:

Generally doctors diagnose it through history followed by some special investigation e.g. 24 hours esophageal ph measurement through, esophageal examination through endoscopes.


Treatment:

In initial stage by antacids or antihistamines can help. Some conservative measures like avoiding tea and coffee,High head position in bed, avoiding large lunch can help the condition.

The diseases in which the drugs are not effective surgical treatment are also implacable.
